*“I would not contest the next polls from the PPP platform,” Babar told The News on telephone from Peshawar. He was among those party leaders whose names were approved for party tickets during the previous meetings held in London.
It should fall apart, when leader doesnt care about own country, I dont think she give a damn to own party, She is after her own benefits. Loyal and sincere party members should realise now a PPP without benazir as leader can be possible.
they should leave "khandan - e - gulaman" tradition.

Babar, a man of integrity, has left far behind many other party stalwarts who could not go beyond making impressive speeches.

Only in Pakistan, murderers like Butcher Babar can be talked about like this in newspapers with no repercussion.

I think the only reason Babar resigned is because BB is now in bed MQM. Babar will no longer be able to carryout the extra-judicial killings like he did before. :)
Suo Moto action was taken by the SHC, but the judges are too scared of MQM goons to carry out their investigation…which I might add with blessings from Mushrrafs regime.

Yep, in the end all she got was supposed relaxtion of her cases, no political or constitutional concessions. Article 58-28, the power to sack PM/Govt remains, and 3rd time bar on PM is still there, despite her demands. For BB it all comes down to personal greed, and nothing more, which her party stalwarts are now realising. Musharraf has pulled a real fast one on BB which will end up seeing the PPP fall apart in the months ahead.
ZAB and loyal party lovers is the main reason that PPP is still alive and continue to live as long as ZAB is in their hearts. PPP can not fall a part as its foundation lies in the hearts of common Pakis. As I already said if she becomes PM through back door, will be the biggest looser. Ultimately some one will take over her party out side of her family clan.
Going by the thuggish actions of Lawyers recently, I am sure they are capable of taking care of themselves against the MQM goons.
Not really, no one 'non-political' is safe, the only ones safe are political ghundas, thanks you Musharraf for opening gates of future "NRO".
Z..... PPP can not fall a part as its foundation lies in the hearts of common Pakis. .....
Well said Farid. Just two comments.
Why a good sensible intellectual like yourself continue using the insulting term for Pakistanis? You could easily use a better alternative as Paks (like Turks) or Pakistanis.
PPP cannot fall apart because its foundations are in socialists of Pakistan. People will remember and follow ZAB or BB in the hopes that one day they would fulfill their promise of easy life and "Roti Kapra and makaan".
Punjab PPP general secretary Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas has said the process of distribution of party tickets has been halted on Benazir Bhutto’s directives and no ticket had been given to any candidate so far. Addressing workers outside party’s office on Shorkot Road here on Sunday, he said after the return of PPP chairperson on Oct 18, proposals of party organisations regarding distribution of tickets would be considered afresh and decisions would be announced subsequently. He directed all aspirants of party tickets to arrange carrying more and more party workers to Karachi to accord what he called a historic welcome to Ms Bhutto. He warned that turncoats, who enjoyed power during the rule of present regime, would not be allowed to return to the party. He refuted the allegation of striking a deal with the dictator and said the PPP had announced to not to vote General Musharraf in case he contested the elections without doffing uniform. He said that was why the party boycotted the presidential elections, however the decision to avoid resigning from the assemblies was taken to restrain religious extremists from entering the mainstream politics after witnessing their role in NWFP and Balochistan. Faisalabad division PPP coordinator MPA Raja Riaz, former Punjab minister Badaruddin Chaudhry, district PPP president Haji Muhammad Ishaq and city president Zulfiqar Ali also spoke on the occasion.
