has Palestine ever existed ?

Has Palestine as an independent country ever existed? If so, how can palestinians demand independent country status?

Re: has Palestine ever existed ?

bhai jaan yeh "Pakistan Affairs" hay.... ya aap Pakistan mai Palestine dhoond rahay hayn?

Re: has Palestine ever existed ?

The concept of nationhood only came in 1648 with the signing of the peace treaty of West Phalia.

But before then what existed was ‘civilisations’ which in modern day are known as ‘states, countries or nations’.

The civilisation of ‘Philistine’ is even mentioned when you read the Prophetic stories of Prophet Samson (peace be upon him) which is thousands of years old.

Re: has Palestine ever existed ?

it never existed as country, but it was a province and before that it was a part of Jordan

the reason for the seperate entity of palestine has more to do with the religious holy sites in the area

Re: has Palestine ever existed ?

You mean like Pakistan? Or India, for that matter? Canada…USA…and so on. All nations are created at some point.

In any case, the Palestinians are definitely a “people”.

Re: has Palestine ever existed ?

India never existed as an independent country untul 1947. Jordan did not ever exist as an independent country until the middle of the 20th Century; East Timor did not exist as an independent country until the early 1970s, even then only briefly. Lebanon never existed as an independent country until the middle of the 1970s.

The absence of a historical country has never been a valid basis for the creation of a new one. Saying that the absence of a historically independent Palestine means that Palestinians o not have the right to call for one is as ridiculous as saying in the lat 18th century that because there was never an independent country in the Americas, Britain’s American colonists should not have been able to call for their land there to become an independent nation.
