Armed forces did strike yesterday in waziristan. Isb/pindi security high alert n army has taken control over security. Isb,pindi,lahore n faislabad seems main target . Taliban most probably will retaliate in punjab.media and different analysts reporting this. May Allah keep everyone safe.

Looks like the operation has started. Military was closely watching infighting in the Taliban camp and they might have arrived at a conclusion that the right time has arrived. Right after the installation of General Rahil Sharif, Taliban are facing retaliation for every single attack they carry out against military or civilian targets. The incumbent chief seems pro-active and offensive, unlike his predecessor. I hope everything goes fine in the favour of the country and its people.

Saying that the ex-chief was defensive or incompetent is the most lame thing to say the least... Or maybe people have found it in their benefit to call him defensive and what not when the same general took back Swat in just 2 months and have made TTP restricted to S/NWA.... But what to say... That all is forgotten and now blame ex for every thing....

Btw, the soviets and the americans now control all of afghanistan and they have restricted taliban to mountains because it isn't worth it to take casualties in a foreign country. Glad that the pakistani army has its priorities straight...

No strikes for today.
Operations (as in targeted strikes) had been going on in FATA even when the negotiations were being planned and taking place. It seems to be doing the job and army has taken the stakeholders into confidence. Anyone's who's been following Pakistan's side of insurgencies for more than few weeks, can pretty much tell that there's been massive improvement in communications between military and civilian power in regards to Taliban.
Of course some people will still leave no opportunity to cook up recycled conspiracy theories of army vs civilian show down and wait for a full blown out fight, but one thing is clear from peace talks to operations - everything is a joint military - civilian effort. Pakistanis for once should let go of their biases and appreciate the co-operation that's taking place. This is how things ought to work in civilised countries.

Doesnt seem like an operation to me. A few strikes here and there which could result in retaliation in Punjab and elsewhere.

it's more like tit-for-tat selective targeting. talibans carried out an attack the other day...yesterday's action was a response to that. they claim they killed 80 talibans...is there any confirmation of those numbers ever?

The operation will start when the military launches full fledged ground attack on the militants, similar to swat. Air strikes can achieve only partial results.

They're denying it's an operation just a retaliation for attacks by militants elsewhere.
Jeez. If you're in there just complete the job at this point.

Wazirs ,who have fled to our areas, are telling us that lot of civilian casaulties, women and children included, are occuring in the jet bombardments and artillary shelling. The worst thing is curfew , immediately after bombardments, army imposes curfew so that people cant escape, as a result many injured ones die due to curfew as they can not be moved to hospital. In the fresh curfew, there is severe food shortage.
In KPK there is no unrest or protest over jet bombardments in khyber agency and N.waziristan, except for few dozens students from FATA. It seems they are supporting military action. KPK suffered most from talibans originating from FATA, so there is less sympathy for troublesome tribals.

Except North Waziristan is where these militants have been hiding out, and HAVE BEEN AIDED BY THE LOCAL POPULATION, and as a result > 50K-70K pakistani civilians are dead.
It's not acceptable, period. Wazir's need to understand they're Pakistani first and muslims first, and that being both would make you NOT HOST THESE MORONS DESTROYING PAKISTAN. You host them, and Paki government for YEARS has tried to weed these people out, and then they show up to the frikkin military headquarters and kill a bunch of people?
Screw this. I say go full fledged with ground troops and do a full operation. Anyone who is a true Pakistani needs to put their hands up in the air ans ask to be moved to safer ground and not fight, and instead cooperate and hand over information about the militants.
