Has n e 1 here ever been to Wagah Border?

I went there in august and I have to tell you its is Amazing! They have a ceremony at about 6 or 7 i think when they take the flag down, Indias choochay soldiers r like little short toothpicks compared to our rangers. Well any way its an amazing atmosphere thousands of peopel come everyday and thousands are sent back because there is a limit of people you can have there! I heard that a Pakistani ranger got so emotional one day that he slapped an indian officer. lol. They play patriotic songs there and india had 3 songs only, that says a lot about our artist i think. It feels great to be Pakistani and you get very emotional when you go there!

Yeah i went there once when i was 7 or 8. I was scared as hell to go to the border cuz on the other side was the Big Bad Wolf called India. Or atleast thats the image i was fed the first few years of my life. Then when i got there, and this is the exactly what i observed, that its the same road that leads into India, its the same trees both sides, same birds same sky same air and same blahdy people. Thats when my fear of India was sort of alleviated.

The salami ceremony itself was amazing. I seriously thought those guards are made of rubber. And only in shalwars can you do those high kicks. Any other piece of clothing wouldnt hold that long. Okay maybe a kilt.

impressive altogether

i've been there in 1989 when i was a 8or 9 yrs old and my late grandfather took me to the border as i was with him on the tour.

good old days rather golden days.

miss them alot.

i`d be there at Lahore on first weekend of year 2004...the is 2nd, 3rd, 4th.......lets see what do they hold at Wagah....

well it used to be a "fierce-eyez" ceremony times back.....n also during those days of excalation and activation a year n a half back......i don`t know what do the rangers hold towards BSF today......(in the days of harmony n cultural exchanges)......

anyone at Lahore n interested is welcome...it wud be an official arrangement....

ohhh ive always wanted to got there!..maybe next time im in pak...inshalla

Ive always wanted to go there and watch the world famous ceremony. Ive seen footage of it on tv few times and it's absolutely marvellous, gives you a great feeling of pride and your heart swells and you get the goose bumps out of pride! the indian soldiers indeed appear to be no match to our rangers in theor impressive dark grey and red colours with high turbans. ive heard their shoes are replaced every week cause they wear out quick due to the foot banging routines. Ive also heard that only very well built and over six feet tall officers and men are selected for the rangers duty at Whgah.
I just love our forces.
anyone have any info on how close they let you get to the gates when the ceremony is taking place. watching it from far away would be boring.

I watched an interview of one of the guards on duty at Wahga and he said most of the guards who are stationed on the border develop back and leg problems due to high levels of stress that these parts have to endure day in and day out. When asked why don’t they protest, he said we do it for our national pride adn can’t imagine a better thing to do. He said we dont feel anything while we’re out there banging our feet and all, but in later stages we all have physical problems. Sad to hear really. These guys are our true and invalueable heroes, sacrifycing their health for national pride. I salute them. :jhanda::jhanda::jhanda::jhanda:
