ISI obviously doesn’t have to be a branch of CIA, but supporting American CIA in the fight against Taliban and other extremists is definitely in the best interest of Pakistan.
Actually former ISI agents like Hamid Gul are the ones responsible for destroying Pakistan with their support to extremism.
