recently i have started getting like 10 mails daily in my Hotmail inbox which are spam.. and they r coming daily… for last 3 days.. previously i didn;t had any such issue with my Hotmail account… and i have not registered in last half a year to any site or place with my Hotmail account…
So all of a sudden this uprise in spam is pretty strange… i thought may be its a universal problem with all of the Hotmail users… so have u seen any rise in spam in last week on ur hotmail accounts too.?
You email may be sold by hotmail for advertisement purpose. Their filtre does stop millions of emails yet some do pass through. In the end why use hotmail when there are better options e.g. Gmail
Hotmail is my first mail like everyone else. so its a legacy which i m trying to remove.. but the most important reason is the MSN messenger account, due to which i have to keep it..
Although i have switched quite a lot of email stuff to gmail but i don't think i cab sat good bye to hotmail just now..
You can carry on using ur hotmail email address with MSN & not use it for email purpose. It will deactivate ur email account for emailing purpose but wont delete the actual account since u will be using it for MSN (logging in to the network). If at any later time u decide to use the same account again, just login to hotmail & activate it (u wont get spam for few days after activation until hotmail will realise that ur email is active & then they will sell it again). I had my hotmail in 1995 & I am still using the same account for MSN (not for emails anymore).
BTW, hotmail may not be everyone's first email account. I had an email account few years earlier than hotmail was introduced.
Yahoo users get bombed by excite-partners.com, every single email i get from them I report as spam and do a refresh and there's 2 more emails from freaking excite-partners.
I have had a nice solution for hotmail spam and its been working fine. Required a bit of a compromise.
All my emails by default go to my junk mail box. Only those email addresses allowed on my safe list are allowed straight in my inbox. This has been going on for about 4 years now and my safe list has grown, to the point that all my friends and family and associates can send me email without me fearing of it being lost in the junk mail. What i also do every 2-3 days is quickly skim through my junk mail, to see if theres anything important sitting in there. I am fairly satisfied with this arrangement.
