Has feminism, ironically, done a disservice to women?

Since men are blamed ad nauseum for every problem under the sun, I thought why not look at the problems facing women today from a different perspective?

Heard a woman today say, “Work is work, sure it’s fulfilling, but it’s still work. It has it’s place, it’s not the be all and end all of life… there is a huge part of life we’re missing out on by pursuing traditionally male roles… I don’t blame feminism… but it performed a massive human experiment without a goal in sight, or steps in mind… What is the next step? I’m 38, wanting to marry. While I have grown up with feminism as my role model, men my age, men of my generation have grown up with Hugh Hefner and James Bond as ideals… I went to the gynecologist today and she said from here on there is a radical downward shift… I want babies but men my age don’t… they ask, “is she hot?”… They don’t need women to cook, to clean, to be able to raise children… They don’t even want children… We are at the cutting, bleeding edge. We will define, what is spinsterhood, what shape will the future of women of tomorrow take?”

Very apt. So is feminism to blame? Or men still?

And marriage. Before it was defined by dependance, the man depended on the woman to take care of the homefront and the woman on the man to take care of her financial and living needs. But now, there is no dependance. Women work, no one needs a marriage to have children, or a wife to take care of the kids. So what is marriage now without the dependance? Just an intimate and sexual connection - the one thing you can't get on your own, measured by mutual orgasms. So is feminism to blame? Because feminism made women independant -> and this helped change the definition of marriage,

Perhaps most ironic of all is that the value of woman is measured by her looks. She is good for nothing else than sex. Maids for cleaning. Day cares and nannies for rearing children. What good is a woman to a man?

k but do u know what happens to the woman who DOESN'T work?

just blame it on men so much easier:rolleyes:

immoderation is.

feminism to some degree can be credited with educated mothers, decreasing tendency amongst people to treat women like goats or an equivalent commodity. you would probably not have been able to type this out if it werent for feminism.

but yes, I do agree with you in that its also created a lot of problems and will probably create even more including marriage problems for women, problems after marriage for men, increased accident related injuries, higher unemployment amongst men, and correspondingly lower quality workforces..

Lower quality workforces. Explain that.

in an all male environment the most interesting thing around is infact the markovian decision problem in front of you.

and ofcourse a lot of the times its men doing the hiring so a lot of the times qualifications arent really the criterion when selecting women. (this bit is serious).

I'm half an hour away to breaking my fast. Blood pressure raise nai karo fazool mein. Explain your reasoning. Period.

are u KIDDING me? Are you ....GAH!

I'll be back after I eat something. grumbles at chauvinist ravage

what the hell does markov have to do with anyone of this

Add to that maternity leave. Helps explain the invisible glass ceiling. From a purely productive and capitalist view, why hire someone who's output is unpredictable? Why take on the hassle of finding temporary people when a woman suddenly and without warning becomes pregnant? Money is our god right? Money is a woman's god too. Independance and all.

haha. it honestly is very true. atleast in my experience.

in my batch we had 5 girls and 150 boys (:(). None of the girls in our batch (GIKI/Engineering) were in the top 50 students of the batch.

When MNCs came for hiring on open house, every single girl got picked up, even when more confident, better prepared, and higher gpa students got kicked.

and this happens every year. ask anyone graduating in Pakistan (from what i've seen!), if you're a girl from a decent school you'll get picked up like a snap regardless of quals.

markov is the most uninteresting thing i can think of..

I guess this is the difference between a real woman, a strong woman, a woman who is great as your mother and great as your boss. A woman who you would be proud to wed.

And one which deservedly will bite the proverbial heel of darwins social dust.

Amen to spinsters living on bleeding edges.
And inshallah to disolving gender things.
