well i have participated in desi NGOs outside of pakistan but not in pakistan. like ive participated in shaukat khanum fund raiser (couldnt raise alot of money) and when the earthquak stuck kashmir we raised money (raised alot of money, more than my expectations and then government of canada was kind of enough to double it)

Thats really good that you guys helped raise so much and that the Government contributed too.

yeah government actually announced that watever the ppl will raise we r gona double it, and alhumdulilah it was a huge amount, and i remember one pakistani brother giving me a check in an envelope and when i opened it, it said 50,000 canadian dollars, and he told me not to mention his name :)

Its amazing to know that people have such open hearts.It was wonderful of you all to help in whatever way you can.
I see Abdul Sittar'e Edhi's site , and I think that going to Pakistan it would be so great volunteering there instead of spending innumerous hours shopping like we all do, when we go back

i will highly highly recommend going to ashiyana where abondoned kids, mostly of prostitutes live and if u bring some candies they will give u so much luv and they will try so much to get ur attention, just breaks my heart.

I was an active member of the Welfare Society of our neighbourhood back in Karachi. Used to have a blast by organising events like, games, walk to Quaid’s mazaar on December 25th… AUgust 14th, etc. We used to organize Rabiul Awwal programs… where famous naat khwaan like, Khursheed Ahmed Marhoom, Qari Waheed Zafar Qaasmi, Siddiq Ismail etc. used to come…
We used to have August 14th programs as well… quizes, questions, games, prizes what not… used to occupy a big road for shaamiyaana 
all this when I was harldy 10-11 years old 
Thats amazing.And I bet your parent’s support was instrumental since they allowed you to do all this when you were so young.
Do you know of ways to try to get involved , I mean tips etc
