Just an update - it works for acne. At least did on mine and I am still using it to get rid of scars.

I googled Alum for acne after reading your thread and came across this Highly successful acne treatment! - Over-the-counter acne medications and products - Forums where the person used Alum and Sea salt regimen and is pretty satisfied with the result. Gonna give it a try. Thanks.

Its to control acne and then clear the acne scars. Its topical. All I do is wash my face and then wed the Alum (in rock form) and rub it a little on the face where acne is. Best done before going to sleep but that's not practical for me so I apply it just before leaving for the office. Significant improvement so far. There might be other process to apply alum as well but didn't try any. There are visible results in a week or so.

I wouldn’t try using common salt on my skin though. That would be really irritating as acne is sort of exposed skin and you dont put salt on exposed skin. Alum however is another salt and I didn’t know it till recently that it was used as an tropical anticeptic for skin so there are no possible side effects.

My dad uses alum as an aftershave ever since I remember. And I use it too now whenever I get wax/shave. Prevents pigmentation of skin and also sweat.

From what I have read so far, it doesn't stop the sweat but rather, kills the bateria that are produced due to sweat. From the article link shared by Sanaabc, it can help heal the damaged skin as well but I don't have any so cannot comment on that. If anyone else tries may be they can share the experience.

Yes LP it still is. I’ve a lot less scars now and it might be a while before they are all gone. Its kind of instant for acne itself (2-3 days) but scar take longer depending on how old they are.

You just wet it, apply and let it stays overnight? Or wash it right away?
Do you have acne marks or pitted scars?

Mostly I apply after washing my face. Slightly pat it all over and don’t really wash it off as there isn’t any layer created may be just tiny particles that stick to the skin.
I have had acne for as long as I remember so got a lot of scars as well. They are clearing up now but very gradually. I don’t think it would be helpful with pitted scars though.

alum will reduce the size of pimples . but ur skin may get quite dry and lifeless after using it. thats what i have noticed after i used it many years ago.

how do use the power form for scars?
