Re: Has anyone used a fertility monitor?
I am using ovulation strips that detect the increase of luteinizing hormone (LH). Lets see how 'good' they are, it made me realise that my most fertile days infact were after I had thought that my fertile days were. Hope its clear why i mean.

I know what you mean! I have been using the Clearblue ovulation kits and they are pretty good and reliable. These strips only detect one hormone whereas the monitor detects the 2 hormones P & O. I know im ovulating AH and my cycles are regular but i want to use this monitor to see when im ovulating and use the sticks as well.
Its quite expensive but i bought it as the reviews were good and people had conceieved within 1st month of using it! Inshallah good news soon for all of us!
Re: Has anyone used a fertility monitor?
Insahallah! Normally if your LH level increases and the strip shows a positive results, means that u are likely to ovulate in the next 24 till 48 hours, for that you dont really need the monitor.
Re: Has anyone used a fertility monitor?
I know..when i used the sticks the first time, it showed a smiley face and we didnt conceive then! Not sure whats happening! I guess its all up to Allah Tallah. I only bought the monitor because of the good reviews it got!
I wanted to find out if any of the guppies conceived by using it or anyone they know might have....
Re: Has anyone used a fertility monitor?
Many other factors play a roll, my first pregnancy I concieved in no time and this time I wanted to have the baby before my important exam next year in august but no luck, now if I get pregnant I can forget going to UK for that exam but yes its all in hands of Allah, don't worry sometimes it takes time, maybe our body is adjusting to something, sometimes unconsciounsly our minds are not ready and our body know it where we might not.
Re: Has anyone used a fertility monitor?
Yes family stress more likely playing a part but then again it hasnt been long since we started trying!
Re: Has anyone used a fertility monitor?
Clearblue fertility monitor is very well reviwed. If you can get it, i would advise it. Also, Sunset, dont get disheartened if you dont concieve the first or second cycle etc. Each cycle you have a 10% chance of concieveing. The average trying time i think is 6-12 months. Some are successful sooner, some later. Good luck, InshaAllah it will happen when the time is right.
Re: Has anyone used a fertility monitor?
You know, people think that stress plays a huge factor in whether or not conception occurs. Yet scientifically speaking, it actually plays a very small role. Of course, when a person is stressed beyond all get-out then it can have a small impact on hormone levels. But just that....SMALL. And unless your stress level is causing blood pressure problems, heart palpitations and incessant insomnia then its pretty unlikely to have an effect on your fertility or ability to conceive.
People who have conceived after "giving up" and then getting pregnant after years and years...they account for women whose biology has had enough time to even out and adjust.
While the OTC ovulation predictor kits are indeed reliable, they detect LH surge which happens just prior to egg release. BUT you can have the surge without having a ripe egg. You can have the surge AND a ripe egg but not enough uterine lining thickness for an egg to implant. You can have surge, ripe fertilized egg and enough thickness BUT not enough progesterone to keep the implanted egg beyond a couple of days.
They say to wait one year if you are under age 30 to see a fertility specialist. But I'd not wait longer than 6 mos. because its so much better to find and address any issues sooner rather than later.
In most cases, all is fine and theres nothing to worry about. Yet I read more and more about fertility issues even in younger people these days. The heartbreak I went thru every month, the $$$ I spent every month on pregnancy tests only to be disappointed....I would spare you people that.
If you have ANY concern, seek some testing.

i haven't tried that but i did try ovulation kids. it wasn't that useful for me, as i am irregular. these test quantities of leutenizing hormone (lh) it was interesting tho, when i took the tests in the afternoon/evening time, always negative. then one day i was so excited that it was positive for a couple days in a row. hubby and i were very happy. then i realized it seems to be positive in mornings, so i took it on the same dayin the evneing and it was negative. doctor said positive tests can sometimes mean pcos.
my ami has always said part of the problem is stress. and some of the hormones tht used to beelevated in me are elevated due to stress. but m03 is right. there are so many other issues. it is best toget tested. i'm going through the process now.
pp, the ovulation kit should be done at the same time each day, evening is the best, dont drink much before doing it. I had a positive day only twice in a row. It works if you are regular.
Re: Has anyone used a fertility monitor?
what is ovulation kit? where i can get it?
Re: Has anyone used a fertility monitor?
^ It predicts the day when the ovulation (the release of the egg) will happen.
you can read the info here. Ovulation Predictor Kit FAQ - Fertility Plus
You get it in any pharmacy or drug store or even try ebay, I got mines from there and it was much cheaper and u get a whole lots of strips.
Re: Has anyone used a fertility monitor?
Has anyone with irregular periods tried this? I was thinking of getting the Clear Blue Fertility Monitor, but want to know if these monitors work for women with PCOS? It is about $150 on Amazon, plus you have to buy the testing strips, which are about $45 for 30 strips. I dont want to waste so much money if these kits dont work with pcos.
Well I never have gotten a confirmed diagnosis of pcos, but with all the symptoms I have, its pretty likely. We have been trying for about 5 months, but Im not even sure when Im ovulating, so I thought this would help.
Re: Has anyone used a fertility monitor?
saima, why dont u go see a doctor to get confirmation? maybe tell the doctor that u've been trying for a year. Well, by the time the appt is booked for you, it might be take some time, and if you do fall pregnant (inshallah) you coudl just cancel. Try not to stress out about worrying whether u have PCOS or not, jsut find out. It coudl be mild PCOS. Some people have it without even knowing about it.
good luck ladies!
