hi,

I was wondering if you know of anyone that really loved someone but their parents did not approve of the guy. Did they elope and get married without tell noone?

well its a big decision

they dont stay happy who do that any way for one or other reason

u cant just suddenly leave ur family who u lived with your whole life

there are tons of stories girls coming back after few months empty handed
and some of then even pregnant

so if u r a girl it would be even more terrible for u!

chance of success is even less than 10% i guess

One my cosuin(from my mother's side)eloped with a guy,of the same caste, and got married and they now live happily.But my uncle(My cousin's mother's brother) never pardoned her and has not spoken with her for nearly 21 years!!!

These are the problems an` elope' can cause.It can severe family ties.But also depends on people's attitudes.

I am a Hindu.One my another cousin(from my father's side) got mrried to a Muslim girl,he converted to Islam,they both live happily and both my cousin and the girl are happily welcomed .Another attittude side...............

Again another cosuin(now pls do not think that in my family people are eloping :D),once again from father's side, eloped with guy of the same caste ,they both live happily,but my uncle(the girl's father) and his family,have not approved this yet and have not talked to them for nearly six years!!!

I could never do it.

My family means too much to me, and staying in touch with my fam, and my hubbies fam would be something i would want to do - and eloping would either create a really big dent in that relationship if not wreck it completely

I know of one couple who eloped and got married and they are happy from the looks of it and have been together for around 7-8 yrs now I think :touchwood:

Still wouldn’t recommend it though :smiley:

sweetu: would you have eloped if things didnt work out with your family. I mean your parents didnt agree to the marriage? Did you have a proper wedding in the end.

I think when it comes to marriage, some people dont care about weddings and stuff because their just want to marry the guy they love, I see it happen sometimes...

many many moons ago one of my cousin "ran away" with our driver in paksitan.
we were so little we didn't even know why every one wanted to kill our driver. lol

We found out the truth atleast 20 years after.

I heard In SHARIAH one cannot marry without the permission from the Girl's Father?

Makes me wonder, if that is true, are their marriages LEGAL?

I am not talking about Umreekan. or Canadian qaanoon, I mean LEGAL AS SHARAY?

Though I am all for marrying the one you love, however I strongly believe that if your love is true, sincere and pure, no matter what, you can always convince your parents! Eloping is the easy way out of it, to fight for your love and convince the world is the challenge!

I know of two Brooklyn pakistani couples that eloped while in high school. The girls were 14 and 16, and the guys were 21 and 22. The 14 and 21 year old came back after 3 months of hiding and their parents quickly got them married to each other. The other two never came back to their families. Instead, the boy and girl did a case against the girl's father, saying that he was torturing the boy's uncle and endangering his life in order to find out where she was staying. The father is now in jail and I heard the girl's mother became mentally ill due to all of this. It was all over the news and missing person's fliers.

Very very sad. I certainly wouldn't recommend it for these young lovestruck morons, but if you're much older, have a good education, good head on your shoulders, and your parents are a bit too backward and wont ever see things your way.. its still not as bad.

I know a couple..the girl was hindu..and boy was muslim...they both ran away and got married. The girl converted to Islam..now they have two boys..both of them finished their education..and have great careers and family life..BUT..after all these years the girls family refuses to speak to her..due to the humiliation she caused by running away..

Usually if ur family is dead set against the relationship....there should be a good reason for it.

PS, that 16/21 year old couple...just...dayum.
