Re: Has anyone ever done streaks/hightlights on their own hair?

My friend did it on my hair once. And it worked fine, though I didn't leave it in long enough (it was my first time and I was nervous) so some of the streaks were really faint.

These days the highlighting kits come with special comb applicators that aid in applying the highlights, but I still think that it's simpler to have a friend or a professional do it for you.

i did my hair with wella hair color. juz wrap the strands of hair with da dye cream with aluminium foils. the color turns out brighter.

Re: Has anyone ever done streaks/hightlights on their own hair?

Has anyone tried using lemon juice to lighten their hair? I can't imagine it would be very good for your hair but I know of several people who use this method during the summer.

Re: Has anyone ever done streaks/hightlights on their own hair?

loreal color expert is fairly easy and simply n u cant go wrong with it. If u just want hi lites, most at home highlite kits comes with some form of wand and its just pick a strand n color it kinda deal..

Re: Has anyone ever done streaks/hightlights on their own hair?

I streaked my sisters hair using the highlighting cap. They came out pretty good actually. I used a light golden brown hair dye so the highlights wouldn;t turn out too yellow.

Re: Has anyone ever done streaks/hightlights on their own hair?

I've streaked my cousin's hair twice, each time following the directions very closely and dividing the hair in appropriate proportions. The end result is that her hair turns orange in the streaked portions. Someone please explain to me what we're doing wrong? We divided the hair into two layers, first doing the bottom one and then the top. We think thats just how her hair is.

Femme - when you streaked ur sisters hair, how long did the whole streaking process take? Perhaps we're leaving the color in too long and it bleaches too much? It took us probably 45 mins, is that too long?

Re: Has anyone ever done streaks/hightlights on their own hair?

It was a tiring and tedious process Sehar. Pulling out each strand one by one. That was 7 yrs ago so I don;t remember exact details. I do however remember having done a strand test first. Tried 3 strands at different timings and stuck to the one she liked the best. I would suggest u do a test first and see how much time her hair needs.
