Inshallah it looks like we will be going to Umrah for 1 week this month.
I just want to have opinions of people who have been there recently and would like more information on the construction that is taking place in Mecca. Where is construction happening? We might be staying at Zam Zam towers. My husband thinks there is construction going on but the agent is saying it is taking place behind the 4* hotels are there is none taking place around our hotels.
Does anyone agree with the agent? Is there much disturbance?
It doesnt really matter as we will be spending most of the time praying inshallah but still its nice to have a view towards Haram Sharif but it looks unlikely!
I just came back from Umrah 3 weeks ago. There is construction going on in Zam Zam towers, but I dont think it will matter to you. You will be very close to the Bab Umar Bin Abdul Aziz and to Bab-e-Fahd. There is also alot of construction going on at the opposite side of the Haram. But that shouldnt matter to you at all. Have a very nice trip and remember us in all your prayers.
Loads of construction going on, my brother's there at the moment. And the 4* hotels are pretty far off..hope u're agent is kind to you, my cousin had a horrible experience where the agent booked them into a REALLY bad/filthy hotel and kept their passports so they weren't able to move!
There's construction going-on around safa/marwa as well..

Congratulations PP - May Allah accept your umrah. When you say the construction wont matter to me, what do you mean? I will be staying in Zamzam towers, so it wont be peaceful then will it? HOw bad is the construction. Thank you for your wishes.

Gina, the agent is saying that the 4* hotels are located at the back of the 5* and construction is taking place behind the 4* and shouldnt affect us at all. Now i am worried.
mashallah thats nice, remember us all in your prayers, my friend recently went some time last month, construction is pretty much happening in alot of places from what my friend said, caz they're always making changes, plus with the old hotels being knocked down and all.
SE, the 4* hotels are REALLY bad and really far from the Haram. Please get all details from u're agent as once u're there, there won't be much u can do to change things. The safa/marwa has also been narrowed down a great deal, if u can delay it try and delay it as it's extremely crowded due to summer holidays.
Orpheous - yes i will remember all my guppies in my prayers inshallah. I just want to know if there construction going on around Hilton Towers, Dar-ul-Tawhid and esp zam zam towers? Will it disrupt us? Or is there a website where i can find an update of whats happening lately?
It will be my first time inshallah. I am REALLY looking forward to it. I mean i read my namaaz 4 times a day (i know its 5 times) but inshallah i cant wait to dedicate myself to God and just be there in that atmosphere knowing all that history that took place there.
Gina, thanks again 4 ur reply. I think my agent seems to be ok - i mean he is saying there is no construction going around Zamzam towers but i know its true as there is alot going on everywhere near mecca - i pray to God, inshallah everything will be ok.

When we went there was alot of construction as well, but we never heard any noises or anything at all. As a matter of fact, if we were in the hotel, we didnt even hear the azan. You just want to be in a place that is close to Haram. That makes it easy for you to go back even for a little bit, in case you want to use the toilet or make fresh wudhu at home. Other than that all I can say is that you will have a great time. It is an experience that cannot be explained in words. You have to go there to feel it. Just spend as much time in the Haram as possible as your time there is very short.
