Reading this thread before going to the movie scared me into thinking it would be a disappointment. Well, it wasn't. My children and me all enjoyed it.
Yes, things from the book were missing of course, but since it's impossible to put everything in one movie, what else can one expect? And a few changes were made of course.
I do think there could have been more explanation though of why the person who was the Halfblood Prince, was it. It's explained in the book, it had something to do with the mother, I can't exactly remember what, it's been a while now since reading the book. Anyway, in the movie, they don't explain when they reveal who that person is, why it's him. Since it was an important element of the story, they perhaps could have explained it further for people who haven't read the book or people who don't remember the book exactly.
There seemed to be a lot more humour in this movie than in the previous ones. We certainly had a good laugh. It was an enjoyable and interesting movie and all in all, worth watching.
One surprise though after finishing the movie, despite starting at 22.00 it finished after midnight at an hour when there is no more public transport available. Having not enough for a taxi, we had to walk from Rotterdam to Schiedam to get home. It was almost 03.00 when we were home. When I was growing up, there used to be public transport 24 hours a day. In the nighttime and the very early morning hours, you had only once an hour a bus or a tram, but you had something available. Now nothing. Perhaps an idea to check if you can get home with public transport in your area if you watch a movie late in the evening. I really need a lot of sleep now!
