Re: Harry Potter 7: The Deathly Hallows
Okay, here are some of my theories and some confirmed information either from Mugglenet.com or from JKRowling.com
Petunia
I know there is something going on between her and Dumbledore -- they share some sort of secret deal. I too was sure that she was magical and somehow denied her magical heritage because she was ashamed of it. Rowling confirmed that Petunia is NOT a Squib and she also said that she has not and will never perform magic. But I'm not sure if that means that she couldn't have given up her magical abilities early in life, even before exercising them.
Snape & Dumbledore
Okay, after reading Book 6 I developed a theory that people either found really interesting and intriguing or completely ludicrous. There were a lot of inconsistencies in Dumbledore's character throughout Book 6 and I felt certain that the Order of the Phoenix was polyjuicing as Dumbledore in order to protect him. Here are some reasons I thought of the polyjuicing theory:
- There's a reference to there being a bunch of silvery hairs tied together in Hagrid's hut that are presumed to be unicorn hairs -- but couldn't they be Dumbledore's?
- Why would Dumbledore specifically ask for Snape when returning with Harry after searching for the Horcrux? Why wouldn't he ask for any of the Order of the Phoenix? Why just Snape? UNLESS -- who we thought was Dumbledore was actually Snape disguised as Dumbledore, and who we thought was Snape was actually Dumbledore...?
- Early on in the book Harry remarks how despite all of his own failings, Dumbledore never gets upset at Harry, he never yells at him. BUT THEN when Harry has been given the task to find out what a Horcrux is and gets tied up in his own personal issues, Dumbledore gets really mad and yells at him. That seems inconsistent with Dumbledore's character (but not inconsistent with Snape's).
- When Harry barges in on Dumbledore after realizing that it was Snape that betrayed his parents to Voldemort, Dumbledore defends Snape in a very heart-wrenching way, conveying his regret, etc. Could that have really been Snape?
- When Harry and Dumbledore go for the Horcrux and Dumbledore is drinking it, he seems to be reliving a regret. He calls out and says things like, no it was my fault, take me not them, etc etc. Could that be Snape reliving his betrayal of the Potters?
If the polyjuicing theory is true, that means that Snape sacrificed himself to protect Dumbledore and to help someone (whoever is polyjuicing as Snape) infiltrate Voldemort's gang.
Of course, now she's confirmed that Dumbledore is dead (she confirmed it live, at a reading or something), so the only way that this theory works is if Dumbledore had already died and the Order of the Phoenix was polyjuicing as him so that no one would know and realize how vulnerable Harry and the Order really are w/o Dumbledore...
I still don't believe Snape or Draco are evil.
OH!!!! One more thing. When Draco is about to attack Dumbledore, Dumbledore tries to talk him out of it, showing that he understands the hold that Voldemort has over him and that there is "another way" out -- which is pretty much to fake your own death! And this is right before Dumbledore himself dies!
