Off the coast of Scotland, turbines on the seabed will generate electricity. Area vast. Power level probably close to 1 GW. Completion - probably 5 yrs.
Off coast of China. Following two ways
- Dynamic (turbine? ). How? Wall parallel to coast. Channels perpendicular to walls. Turbines situated in channels.
- use if temp gradient. Hot water near surface pumped thru Heat Exchanger. Heats up ammonia in Evaporator. The vaporous (which article incorrectly calls steam) drives turbine. Hot water pumped back yo see.
Another pump pumps cold water through HEX. Ammonia vapor condensed in condenser. And recirculatex back yo evaporator. Cold water pumoed to sea.
Levelized cost of electricity 15 to 25 cents per kWh. I forget which was which.
Written from memory. Source WSJ last week. Oifu mixed up all papers.
