Harj - Killing

Harj in Ethiopian language means “Killing”. Does the below Hadith is applicable on what is going on today (recently) in this world?

Hadith/Reference No. 63 / 85 / Page 192, Vol-I

Narrated Abu Huraira: Prophet Muhammad :saw2: "Time will pass rapidly, good deeds will decrease, and miserliness will be thrown (in the hearts of the people), and the Harj (will increase)." They asked, “What is the Harj?” He :saw2: replied, "(It is) killing (murdering), (it is) murdering (killing).
