This song written by Ameer Khusro in Brij Bhasha 700 years back, has been rendered in Pakistan’s famous music show Coke Studio. Though due to good singing and music, the song became a hit, but there are very few who could get the meaning of the song.
Any body here, who can understand brij?
The google contains lyrics of the song, but there are comments that lyrics used in the coke studio version are not correct.
Do they still sing traditional folk songs in the regions where Brij / Urdu initiated (Delhi / UP) or in Urdu speaking families in Pakistan? As far as I know, Fatima Surraya Bajiya in her TV serials tried to put some of these songs in weddings shown in such serials. Apparently, weddings songs are now invaded by hip-hop cheap bolly songs like chikni chameli, munni badnaam and bla bla…

Re: Hare Hare Baans - Ameer Khusro and Brij Bhasha
could you please post the lyric in Urdu or Hindi.
quite a few words have been pronounced incorrectly. i haven't heard the song in it's entirety which i'll do later tonight. i think you've to know the language to render it sorrectly to convey the 'meanings' and 'feelings'. certain words in Awadhi dialect can only be expressed in a certain way to convey the feelings.
one example is the Urdu word 'achchhaa'...it can be said in innumerable ways to convey it's meaning in it's perspective. sometimes, you repeat the word to convey a totally different meaning, like 'achchhaa achhaaa'.
