I’m 21 weeks alhumdulalilah, but I feel like I’m going through that phase again of not being able to drink water even though I’m thirsty. I’ll take a gulp and feel nauseous or throw up. Before I was able to mix water with a lemonade powder, but after throwing up so much and having an irritated esophagus plus heartburn, I can’t tolerate the lemonade anymore.
Ughhhh I’m thirsty and just threw up violently after drinking some water. Now I have a scratched up throat and drinking more water is making me feel like I have vomit stuck in my throat. Help on suggestions.
No Gatorade or vitamin water suggestion please. I really dislike them both.
Re: Hard time drinking water in pregnancy
Try peppermint tea. It was pretty much the only fluid I could drink.
Also, I was surprised to find how soothing a cold glass of milk was. I’ve never been a milk drinker, but I had a lot in my first tri.
Re: Hard time drinking water in pregnancy
I would instead suggest u to get some anti-sickness tablets prescribed.
Its the only thing thats helping me at the moment. Speak to ur doc and ask him to prescribe u some anti-sicknesses.
Re: Hard time drinking water in pregnancy
well taking proper medical assistance from a professional doctor is way better than taking help on public forums..
Re: Hard time drinking water in pregnancy
Also, ask your doctor about Tums. They are commonly given during pregnancy to help with indigestion.
Re: Hard time drinking water in pregnancy
Ah ladies trust me I have a Zofran pump that is set to give me medicine automatically around the clock and its supposed to be the strongest anti nausea and vomiting med. Tums are useless on me so I’m on Zantac, but still have issues
. Why is my body so difficult?!
Milk does help, but when I get into a vomiting cycle it doesn’t help.
I should look into peppermint tea.
Re: Hard time drinking water in pregnancy
I was given Envepe and Navidoxen for Anti nausea and anti vomiting…Still having it and its my 16th week. However, those are the only meds (some days one helps and some days the other) that are keeping me going!
Re: Hard time drinking water in pregnancy
Its not about your body being difficult neither its about the strongest medicines you are already taking. It’s only about what suits you most. If the existing medicines not helping you out, why to continue them?? Speak to your doc, let him no that you need something different that can suit you and help you with your present condition!!
Re: Hard time drinking water in pregnancy
bisoux.. where are you located? if you are in the US, you can ask for diclegis.. it ownt help with nausea but will cut down on the number of times you throw up. It’s bit pricier than zofran but it’s class A medicine, safe during pregnancy, and works great.
hope your pregnancy gets better.
Re: Hard time drinking water in pregnancy
Queen zofran works for me most of the time, but once I get into a vomiting cycle it’s just hard to control. I am trying not to add anymore meds :(. Nothing else suits me like zofran. I have tried a few others before.
Gemini, I’m the US. I don’t take zofran orally. It’s administered to my tummy via a pump. What is the other name for this medicine? I have hyperemesis, so throwing up once in a while is inevitable for me.
I ended up drinking a slushie and it helped hydrate me. ![]()
Re: Hard time drinking water in pregnancy
Tums were a life saver for me during my pregnancy with the twins. I could not eat anything at all, the indigestion and heartburn was so bad! Not because of nausea or anything, but because Baby B was crammed right underneath my diaghram, horizontally…I felt like the kid was right in my throat lol!!! Forget eating…even breathing was painful :sid:
