So here’s the problems guys…
I’ve been offered undergraduate admission by York and UofT for Bachelor of commerce/business.Now both of them are excellent universities and which one to choose over the other is becoming a painstaking process.
Right now I’m inclined towards UofT since it is an older uni and probably more recognised. But ppl keep telling me tht York degrees have more value in the job market.I also heard tht the York’s Schulich school of business is mostly jewish and muslims experienced unfavourable treatment from teachers…is there any truth to it?
salams lil bro kya haal hae ![]()
hmm…i don have much experience with those two schools…
but some of the factors that also affect this decision r like the social environment [which school has a better psa n msa] n living conditions, the weather etc…
consider those too, u cud visit the colleges and gather info from students there…
that cud make ur decision easier.. :k:
good luck and both r great unis, congrats on getting in
:k:
You've got admission from uft and york. I would definitely suggest that you go to UfT. Uft's degree is more popular in the job market than of York. I would say don't go to york unless you have no other choice. It's very badly reputed among the toronto universities. York is at the very bottom of the toronto university list. One of my friends graguated last year from York with bachelors in computer programing and is still searching for a job. Compared to York Uft is also very tough.
Aks DM. He is well versed in both universities.
Salaam irem baji…I am absolutely fine…
I would love to go down to the unis for a casual visit…but i’m in dubai ![]()
Well to know abt the social environmet was a part of the reason I posted here since we have many toronto guppies here. and their insight would definitely be useful.
Still waiting for the toronto guppies to reply…![]()

I mean academically.
pheeka bhai, I'm not qute sure if your comparison is that valid here. You cannot compare UofT CS to York CS. One is a world leader and the other is a nobody. However, York's business program is quite well reknowned. So, there a fair comparison can be made.
cooldude, I wouldn't know if Muslim students were treated shabbily by profs but I do know that recently there was Muslim-Jewish tension going on over some hardcore pro-Israeli dude's speech. And it was not very trivial either. I followed it in the papers and things got pretty hot. So, there is probably some truth to what you have posted.
Lastly, maybe it's just me but I think UofT is an excellent university. You will never go wrong with UofT. You might be good at York as well. But UofT is a very safe bet for your money's worth regardless of what program you take there. So, my choice would be UofT.
Just curious why didn't you apply to WLU and UWO? They are also very well known for their business programs. I'm not sure about this but isn't UWO's Richard Ivey school the best in Canada in international rankings?
I would have applied to WLU and UWO…but my dad wanted me to stay in toronto as I have cuzs there.U know parents…anyways…I just found the financial times rankings on toronto’s website, the Ivey school of business is ranked at 22 right under toronto in the world(for MBA). Looks like Toronto is the best in Canada.![]()
U can check them out here..it’s in PDF format.

In terms of Business degrees, specifically MBA degrees, U of Toronto outdoes all the other Canadian universities in terms of reputation and respectability. So I would definately choose that over the other schools. You can also check out the business week rankings on the MBA programs in Canada.
queens also has one of the best MBA programs in canada and i guess they r one of the best in the world as well...
york is good but nothi beats uft in toronto!
