Re: Haram ... ?
Passion of Christ didn’t do much in my opinion. Besides sentiments rose by movies aren’t very stable if you aren’t educated about your religion and the link with Allah isn’t strong. Its just direction skills or acting exploiting your human instincts. Often people add their own touch to history for the sake of perfection, some of the worst things can be done with good intentions. So may be Allah will forgive the person but you have to understand that mistake is still a mistake and society is influenced.
The original question of the thread was about Pakistani drama and Bollywood movies, lol don’t even make me go there. I am sure you can find what is wrong with them.
Thing is once the industry begins it doesn’t stay to education and other good purposes sooner or later it turns into something else. Islam does not underestimate art rather understands the ramification of artistic expressions which is precisely why these things and I mean music, movies and other stuff should be avoided.
There is another manner to look at things most of us like to watch and don’t appreciate it if its our own relative on the screen. Forgive for putting it blatantly but how many of you would enjoy watching your own women relatives in movies? Or how many women would enjoy seeing their men folks on screen? Not many, I am guessing and what you don’t like for your folks you shouldn’t inflict on others. Islam leaves little place for hypocrisy. True some women or men would like the job and their careers but it has more to do with what individual’s principles dictate them to do. Its like watching some one commit suicide if you cant stop them you wouldn’t exactly want to watch it either.
This is completely my spin on the issue. The thread starter asked what we believed is allowed in Islam, I don’t think movies, and dramas or theatre has any place in Islam.
