Haqeeqa

Salam,

Someone please tell me what is haqeeqa? Is it cultural thing or religious? I had mine when i was 8 or 9 months old but i have no clue what its for.

Its another ritual to show women their place in this world. 2 goats for boys, only 1 for girls.

:jhanda:

yeah thats not fair at all :hoonh: what is it anyways?

It's aqeeqa and not haqeeqa. And I have no idea about it's religous significance. I think it has none.

Fungo, it is not Aqeeqa…. It is Haqeeka just like it is not Alal, but Halal, and not Aram but Haram. Stop copying Arabs. You are a Paki.

:jhanda:

just like its not nayfa, but naypah.

couldn't be arsed to correct it then, so i'll do it in this thread.

i thinks its just a paki thing...
it's not just for babies, it's for any celebration. when my bro graduated from high school we had a haqeeqa for him
i don't knwo why its more goats for the boys than the girls...it's not fair, but it doens't exactly affect me in any way since i'm not a big fan of bakra

I think it will be much better for everyone to do some searching him/herself before posting the question.

The Aqiqa: Is it Necessary?

Answered by Sidi Faraz Rabbani

Is the Aqeeqa (slaughtering for a new-born child) absolutely necessary? And shaving the head? What is the obligatory? What is sunna? Guidance, please.

In the Hanafi madhhab, contrary to the other schools, the ijtihad of our Imams is that the obligation of slaughtering for Eid abrogated all other specifically recommended slaughtering. As such, the aqiqa slaughter, which takes place after the child’s hair has been shaved, is neither a sunna nor specifically recommended . [As mentioned in Bada’i al-Sana’i of Imam al-Kasani, and in al-Shurunbulaliyya]

Rather, it is in itself merely permitted and if done with a good intention it is considered worthy of reward. But there are no specifically prescribed practices for this, unlike other schools.

A lot of Hanafi scholars ‘borrowed’ the rulings of other schools in terms of the details, but it is not of our madhhab, per se.

It is noteworthy that thinking even a sunna to be absolutely obligatory is itself a blameworthy innovation, let alone if the action is not even specifically recommended.

And Allah knows best, and He alone gives success.

Wassalam,
Faraz Rabbani.

ramsy bhai.. itna ghuma phira kyon rahain hain.. seedhee tarah kaho.. pallay say ghaRa hooyee rasam hay..

agree with bro armughal, thanks wasalam

people please dont invent lies against the religion of allah. if you dont know something please dont pass fatwas saying that “i think it is cultural” when it is a proven sunnah.
the use of our tonque (in this case our fingers) will be questioned in the day of judgement and allah will ask us what made you say something about islam when you did not know. wallah o alam

Allaah blessed me with a baby girl but she died when she was two hours old. Should I offer ‘aqeeqah for her?.

Answer :

Praise be to Allaah.

It is prescribed to offer ‘aqeeqah for her, because of the general meaning of the evidence concerning that, which includes the following:

1 – It was narrated from Salmaan ibn ‘Aamir (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Every child should have his ‘aqeeqah, so shed blood for him and wipe the dirt away from him.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 1515; al-Nasaa’i, 4214; classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani (may Allaah have mercy on him) in al-Irwa’, 4/396.

2 – It was narrated that Samurah ibn Jundub (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Every child is in pledge for his ‘aqeeqah, so slaughter (the sheep) for him on the seventh day, and give him his name, and shave his head.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 1522; al-Nasaa’i, 4220; Abu Dawood, 2838. classed as saheeh by al-Albaani (may Allaah have mercy on him) in al-Irwa’, 4/375.

If it is not appropriate to invite people to gather for the ‘aqeeqah meal because the infant has died, then you can give some in charity, eat some and give some as gifts.
