Hi guys I need your help.I am getting my nikkah done in few days.I just got my “Marriage License”.However there is no mention of " HAQ MAHER" in those papers.My Inlaws are asking about it.I have asked Maulvi Sahib and he said thats its done “Orally” in Canada.As both of the families are fairly new in the country, we dont know what to dot about it.Surely it would create unwanted anxieties specially on the girl’s side.has any one gone through the process here in Canada? please help me out with this matter?what can we do about it?

Good question. I'm not certain that mehr is only a verbal contract in Canada. I'm sure that it is documented somewhere.
I was under the impression that the imam registering the nikah has the correct documentation provided by the mosque.
Where in Canada are you? Perhaps I can refer you to a specific mosque or imam.

I am not sure about Canada but in USA, my friend did a legal-contract (out of marriage license) to pay haq-mehr. Mosque had the forms available for such legal contacts. I am sure such forms are also available in Islamic Centers / Mosques in Canada.
Did you check with your local mosque? If not, you can call Isna Center Canada at 905-403-8406 and inquire.

The masjid has the form. Also this issue should be brought up between the Imam and the two families BEFORE the actual nikkah and it should be agreed upon before anythign else proceeds.

Nikah Naama is issued by Govt of Pakistan and should be same for whole world.
It can later be registered in the NADRA as well!
Haq Mahar is an obligation for the nikah process, please check your local Mosque or contact Pakistani High Commission or NADRA office, they can guide you!
I am sure without Haq Mahar agreement, nikah is not valid but please confirm this with any Islamic Scholars!
