During a recent family gathering I was stressing the importance of making my neices more sughar. One of them immediately asked, “Yay sukar kiya hota hay?” (a fair question). My reply was, “Beta, tum sukar hi bun jao tou itna bhi kafi hay.”
Interestingly, they all know what “juve” is (Juvenile Detention Center).
Whether they can speak urdu or not, and regardless of life circumstance, they are all near and very dear to me.
