JAI SRI KRISHNA

Happy Janamashtami to all my hindu, muslim and sikh brothers.
May Lord Krishna give you all enough sense to be able to understand each other and live togeather in harmony.

JAI SRI KRISHNA

You can all attain Moksha by chanting

Hare Hare

Krishna Krishna

He will lead you out of this jungle.

Lord Krishna Will help you to attain Moksha and lead you out of this jungle. Lord Krishna will help you if you chant his name repeatedly
Hare Hare

Krishna Krishna

Jai Sri Krishna

So where are the sweets: halva, barfi & mithais?

And, what are we celebrating?

yeah krishna krishna....now take the halwa out

Is it Janmashtami?? Krishna is my favourite god, though I like Shiva the most. I like Shiva because he lives outside, even Shiva temples are outside towns at very picturusque locations, like Amarnath. And then he is a rustic god wearing skin of dead animals, meditating at the top of Himalayas with Parvati who had to walk through fire to woo him.

But Krishna is fun too. He indulges in various things and gets out of them, like a 'karmayogi' he talks of in Geetha. Never involved, though doing everything fron love to war to philosophy. He lives all relationships. Born in a low caste, he remained true son of Yashoda. Same time he was a lover to Rukmini, a fighter to Kamsa, a teacher to Arjuna, a politician to Yadavas, a king, a worker, a chariot-driver.

Krishna reminds me Ghalib's couplet
'duniya mein hoon, duniya ka talabgaar nahin hoon.
Bazaar se guzaraa hoon, kharidaar nahin hoon.'

Happy Janamashtami !!! umm ok have alot of fun celebrating people....

A bend in da road is not da end of da road:)

I better pick up Shiva since he is supposed to be most short tempered one of all.

Old Marathi dramas used to start with a song called 'naandi' calling Ganesha or Shiva to come to the drama and bless the actors. But as soon as this naandi is over, the sutradhar will come and say 'OK enough of this singing, give way, the king is coming.' or something like that. I can imagine Shiva who is supposed to be easily pleased, preparing to arrive at the drama on listening the call and hurriedly going back knowing that actors dont need him any more.

Please dont call us muslims your brothers. DOES NOT sound right.

What is this anyway?

Janamashtami is a celebration of Krishna's birth, a story of mythical proportions.

FYI, the story of Krishna's birth begins with the evil King Kamsa, who had usurped his throne from an uncle and who was told by a heavenly voice that one of his sister's children would kill him. Kamsa vowed to never let this happen, so he imprisoned his sister (Devaki) and her husband (Vasudev). For each child born of Devaki, Kamsa killed them upon birth. Krishna was the eight child - upon his birth, the guards in the prison fell asleep, the chains on Vasudeva fell off, and the doors to the prison were unlocked. Vasudeva ran Krishna out of the jail to the home of a friend. On the way, he had to cross the Yamuna river, which lowered it's level to accommodate Vasudeva. Upon reaching his friend's house, Vasudeva switched Krishna with a newborn girl and returned to the jail. The next day, Kamsa attempted to kill the girl, but the baby flew away and Kamsa was told that Devaki's child still lived. He was killed several years later by Krishna.
