Happy Defence Day!

What it means to be a soldier fighting to protect your country, countrymen, and your way of life is a feeling best understood and appreciated by those who are sworn in this path. War is never an easy path to choose as we have come to witness especially in the past decades. Depending on your perspective, with casualties on all sides, rarely can any side claim complete victory. So on the occasion of September 6[SUP]th[/SUP], Pakistan Defence Day, we, the Digital Engagement Team of U.S. Central Command, would like to observe a Moment of Silence in honor of all the military servicemen who have died protecting their nation. This day comes at a time when Pakistan’s military has lost 82 brave soldiers in the military operation against ruthless terrorists in North Waziristan.

As in the words of John Adams: “I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy.”

Happy Defence Day Pakistan!

Legally none. Creative plenty.

Re: Happy Defence Day!

There are legal ways to bring this government down; just cause somebody gets "elected" that doesn't mean that they're above the law and can't ever be dethroned.

Re: Happy Defence Day!

Name them.

Re: Happy Defence Day!

When I was a kid, I was told that Pakistan won this war and declared 6th Sept. as national holiday. During this 17 days of war, Shakil Ahmad and Anwar Behzad rocked the news on Pakistan Radio and gave we poor ignorant Pakistanis the glad tidings of valor of Pak army. This war was not to liberate Kashmir but to save Pakistan from Indian response to proxy war. However the proxy war ran before 6th Sept 1965, showed that freedom fighters were winning and very soon they would reach sirinagar. It did not happen, instead India attacked Pakistan with full force to bring so called 'freedom fighters' back to defend own land particularly Punjab.

In this war two heroes emerged. One was Major Raja Aziz Bhatti and M. M. Aalam who destroyed 5 Indian jets in air with 11 seconds. After many years of listening to songs on this day such as

A watan ke sanjilay jawanon mere naghme tumharay liay hain
A raah-e-haq ke shaheedo wafa ki tasweero
Apni jaan nazr karon, apni wafa pesh karon
sathio sabz parcham urhatay chalo
khita-e- Lahore tere jaanisaron ko salam
Jhang cherh na yun zanani aandi

We came to know that Pakistan actually lost this war. After this war the economy went down, never recovered afterwards. The blunder committed by Field Marshal Ayub Khan paved way the break up of country in yet another war with India in 1971.

I agree it should never be celebrated. Who in world celebrate the defeats from enemies? Name just one country.
