well I have nothing against Nauroz, however I consider it unislamic to celebrate.
The reason is being I have seens lots of Iranis and Afghanis who are MUSLIMS, when asked about Islamic new year and Islamic calender they do not know a damn thing, heck they can't even tell the names of Islamic months. However they know all about narouz this and that. I failed to understand why Islamic new year celebration is discouraged so much and Narouz is right on top.

Lol; sometimes i can't understand the thinking of some 'guppies'... So jalpari: you think celebrating navroz is unislamic just because the iranis/afghanis don't know the islamic months???

I agree its unislamic (that is, its origin is not from islam) but islam doesn't prohibit us from celebrating as it doesn't contradict with any of the islamic tenets.

For example, going trick or treating or the english new year on dec. 31 are all secular holidays/events.

Har qaum ki apni pehchaan hoti hai.. We can't go immitating others, by your logic we should start celebrating divali, holi, vasant-panchami etc...

We are a confused nation religiously and ethnically, we don't know what we are, what we're not or what we're going to be..

Holi and Divali are not secular as they repreasent some major events in the history of hinduism;

Navroz just marks the beginning of spring; i don't see any harm in that.

But we're fighting the same battle man; I know you have a distaste for hindoos/indians and I can't blame you too much for it. We have fought 4 wars with them and society tells us that we should be 'bhai-bhai'. I feel as Pakistanis we should try to separate our commonaliities with them and back our own culture.

Arya is a sanskrit word..means person of a good character...its opposite is Anarya. These qualities have nothing to do with the colour of skin/eyes.
