why did you offer them your cake 
next year, just go to their place to celebrate new year & eat their stuff 
once done, then bring your cake - they won’t be hungry anymore so you can enjy the cake yourself

yea and also don’t buy them coke/pepsi. you can always buy them sams soda or some other supermarket soda
