Not as simple as that, unfortunately. To quote Professor E.P. Sanders on the subject (an appeal to authority, I know, but I defer to the person with greater knowledge): “The history of handwashing is extremely complicated”, as detailed in pages 228–31 of his book Jewish Law from Jesus to the Mishnah: Five Studies.
I am not talking about history of handwashing here. Not clear what you are saying.
