For a six year old, Nintendo 2DS if you’re specifically after a game console. Otherwise, a smartphone (that you already have) with downloadable games would be less expensive.

go with a ps vita, already a lot of bundles out there and with ps+ you get 2 free games every month.

I like DS. The battery life is amazing, and it’s got a bit of a heft to it, so it can take all the abuse that a 6 year old can give it. Plus he can play all kinds of pokemon on it, if he’s into it :stuck_out_tongue:

3DS is newer technology and is backward compatible with DS. However, it’s recommended that younger kids play in 2D instead of 3D, so that’s why I’d recommend a 2DS which lets you play 3DS games in 2D. That’s what I’ve bought for my niece and nephew.

2DS is ugly as hell. Go with 3ds and turn 3d off.
