Hand Stand

So I’ve been trying for more than year now, but I can’t do a handstand without getting my feet off the wall. Anyone got any tips for me.

Re: Hand Stand

can you open you legs a bit to give you more balance.

Make sure to keep your arms perfectly straight. Don't let your shoulders sag upwards or your elbows bend either. It will help to keep balance.

Re: Hand Stand

Will give it a try.

Re: Hand Stand

On a car. Really?

Re: Hand Stand

Alot of the balancing for handstand comes from finger and wrist strength. Try doing freezes that arent as difficult as handstands and hold them for as long as you can but make sure you breathe. Do this until your hands give way. Take a quick break and try again. The next day try and beat that time.

^ This is a great freeze to increase finger and wrist strength. Also if you are feeling strong enough try and take your legs off your elbows and see how long you can hold that for. Its a great way to start easy and slowly just lift your legs up into the handstand position.

Re: Hand Stand

Can you do a handstand or are you working at it too.

Re: Hand Stand

I used to be able to do them quite easily. But that was years ago, and sadly it is a skill you need to work to maintain, which I didnt :(

But I'm getting back into it :D

Re: Hand Stand

I had learned the headstand (head+hands) pretty fast, but am stuck now. I should mention that I weigh 160 lb, I know it's not super heavy but still heavy to be learning a skill like this one.

Re: Hand Stand

It's just practice man thats all it takes. Just keep at it you'll get it. How tall are you?

Re: Hand Stand

5'9.5" without shoes. Guess I'll start doing the crane.

Re: Hand Stand

When you’re done with handstands, try planching. Now THAT is hard.

Re: Hand Stand
