This is why it's haram- b/c ppl start believing them. They say a bunch of mildly generic things like "you will go to america" or "you will have kids late in life" You remember the stuff they got right, and think they predicted it. Then you start believing in it. Also, these people tend to delve into supernatural things from which we should stay away (i.e. jinns). Having your palm read and this sort of thing is very bad in islam, if you engage in it, your prayers don't count for 40 days (i think).

Only Allah's know that whats up in our life. so i think we should not believe such things.
it's totally haram and it is accurate(but not everyone can do it accurately)! that's why we are not supposed to do it...because its true it takes a lot of effort to stay away from it..double the sawab.
You can get your palm read and claim it doesn’t make a difference, you don’t believe it, blah blah blah - truth is, chit stays in your head. Same goes for horroscopes - people read it daily, make mental connections between the readings within their lives and claim it’s all for fun - they don’t believe it. Yeah, right. 
So stay away.

Palm reading is bollocks. So are other fortune tellers, peers and fakeers.

Knowing the future is something that only Allah knows for sure. Lets say its one of Allah's powers. Attributing Allah's powers to anyone else is SHIRK, which is the only sin that is unforgivable.
So for example, saying that Madame Magogo can predict your future from hand reading is attributing one of Allah's powers to Madama Magogo, so its like saying that Madame Magogo has a power of God.
So please stay away from palm reading, horoscopes, psychics and all other rubbish.
BTW, I understand that if you do participate in such practices, then 40 days of your prayers will not be counted for reward / will not benefit you.
