this shows that the secularists and moderates so called don't really have support among the people. I expect Hamas to look after the people much more so because they have track record in this however they will compromise on thier principles regarding the squatter state wholesale this is what usually happens when groups participate in the democratic model, turkey being a point in case the government won on the back of the islamists vote once in power nothing changed.

well this was a wake up call, now likud will win the elections, they will create the state borders and they will have world support, overall i think it was a very bad thing for palestinians.

regardless....they came to power with the will of the people. (sick of conspiracy theories) bottom line is people voted for them. The world HAS to accept this at face value and learn to negotiate with them. lets hope they dont resort to violence now that they are in power.

These dictators are more interested in remaining in power then to help their people and develop their economy
The only answer to jewish-facism, is for the ara-bs to educate their people, adopt modern technology, and grow their economies really fast like china which would support modern militaries. Once the mus-lims are technologically strong then they would be able to kick these jewish/white settlers from palestine. But until then the pales-tinian people would continue to suffer from jewish facism supported by the white man.
The Mus-lims need to learn from CHINA !!!! The chinese too were poor and weak and dominated by the white man, but look at china now. Chinese economy is going to be the strongest in the world in the next 30 years. Face it, when that Wall went up the Palestinians were defeated. 90% of the jobs they have they depend on the Israelis. Hopefully they Isrealis will withdraw from all the settlements, finish the wall, precisely on the 1948 line, and tell the Palestinians to have a good life. Hamas can lob a missle, or try to infiltrate a bomber, but the Isrealis will just shut the gates. If Hamas gets too nasty, they run in some tanks, and execute some Hamas leaders.
Despite the macho posturing, Sharon won this fight two years ago.

The U.S. gave the Palestinian Authority $400 million in direct aid last year and several million more through various U.N. charities, Walles said. Some of the money was handed directly to Palestinian ministries.
“I don’t see how we would do that if those ministries were controlled by Hamas,” Walles said.
“At this point, Hamas has to make a choice. The onus is on them,” he added. “If you want to be part of the political process … you need to recognize Israel, you need to disarm and you need to renounce terror and violence. The choice is theirs.”
Without Western financial aid, the bankrupt Palestinian Authority, which ran a $1 billion operating deficit last year, would almost surely collapse.
Foreign donors have poured about $1 billion annually into the Palestinian Authority, financing vast reconstruction efforts in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. The United States is the single largest donor country, and along with Europe provides the vast majority of the foreign aid to the Palestinians.

No, this is actually very cool.
However, with Democracy comes responsibility, and consequences. Hamas’ bluster is about to be confronted by some harsh realities.
In a bizzare way, this works out better. The PA and the last vestiges of Arafat are gone. The corruption has gotten so bad that even the Palestinians are throwing up in theiown mouths. Hamas has always wanted a fight, now they can have one. The Fatah was so weak they could not control all the radical factions. If a bomber went into Israel, the PA had deniability. No more.
If a bomber kills Israeli people, Hamas is answerable. They have the authority, the popular mandate, and the thugs who can enforce their edicts. A bomb now is not a bunch of people shrugging as if they have no clue.
A bomb now is the act of a sovereign government and they are answerable.
Its gonna get interesting.
