Hamare hain Hussain

I observed that people irrespective of their affiliation with a particular sect revere Hazrat Hussain (RA). I’m from a Sunni family, but my Ammi do nazr o niyaz in Muharram. Even our neighbor Hindus contribute for sabeel and their children attend Muharram procession.

What do you think is the reason behind this affection for Hussain (RA)?

Whats special about the message of Hussain (RA) that attracts people universally?

Re: Hamare hain Hussain

Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and companions have given a message to Ummah by their sacrifice that Islam cannot be sacrificed over anything.

Re: Hamare hain Hussain

But what makes non-Muslims appreciate this?

Hamare hain Hussain

^ I havent see any non muslim appreciate this.

Talk about Muslims :fatee:

Re: Hamare hain Hussain

i saw a ood number of hindus celebrating moharram in rural part of vidarbha

Re: Hamare hain Hussain

How they celebrate it? Is it due to their living with Muslims for long period?

Re: Hamare hain Hussain

I told you that our neighbor Hindus contribute in sabeel and their children come in Muharram processions. One of my Hindu colleague told that they also distribute channe on 10th Muharram and go to Imam Bargah.

Hamare hain Hussain

Hmmm, do they know history of karbala ? Or like you said to ninja that it's due to living with Muslims?

Hamare hain Hussain

Muqaw do you know what exactly happened to Zul jinah? I have been hearing many stories.

Re: Hamare hain Hussain

They have heard the incident from Muslims and may they show that much respect for Hussain (RA), because human always can relate to tragedy

Re: Hamare hain Hussain

I think thats more mythological than reality

I think thats more mythological than reality
[/QUOTE]

What is reality then?

We had some Hindu neighbors in Karachi, they used to dress up on eids, but I don't remember them taking part in mohram.

Re: Hamare hain Hussain

You can say with much authenticity, because even the event of Karbala itself got many versions. I'm ready to accept message from Karbala without any mythological accounts.

They are the one who take out procession on Muharram
They don’t know history of karbala
But not every Hindu is involved in celebrating muharram

Re: Hamare hain Hussain

Exactly Not every Hindu celebrate it, but I think that the people who come across this incident can relate to it

Re: Hamare hain Hussain

Now this word "celebrate" has put me in confusion. Is this a day of celebration or mourning? I can't imagine people celebrating the death of their prophet's grandson. After reading Kinzz's comment above, it appears like a sacrifice for the sake of religion...which means that Hussain was a good guy. Why do you celebrate a good guy's death/murder?

Re: Hamare hain Hussain

celebrate has been used as a day for remembering the sacrifice. There is also an element of celebration. Its not the death, its the cause for which grandson of the prophet sacrificed his life.

Re: Hamare hain Hussain

Can you give me a reliable reference to read this up? Heard too many versions and I would like to understand this sunni/shia concept a little better.
