I am inviting some guests on the weekend and wanted to make halwa puri. I have heard that you can buy mexican tortillas and make puris out of them. Has anyone tried that ? Please share all. Also, what other things should I keep with it.
My menu :-
Halwa (sooji)
Puri
Chapli Kebabs
Chicken cholay Salan
Alou ki bhujia
Sawayaan
^^ very okey, thats also almost what we make when we have Eid milan. instead of kebabs we make chicken tikka, or sometimes we make paye chane instead of only chane walah salan.
But I have never heard of makeing puri of tortillas, aker nehi jayaain ghee?
At Walmart they sell mexican tortillas that are really thin, kept next to biscuits, butter etc. in a refrigerated shelf. The name starts with Az...something...can't remember now. They work out pretty good. Deep fry them like a puri.
Don't buy the ones that are kept with bread in a regular shelf.
:)
Buy "Mission" tortillas in the packs of 12 from Walmart, Krogers or like stores. Just fry them in Oil. They are perfect to make puries out of. I like these better than the desi heavy puries made out of "meda" flour.
^sawayan is just milk, vermicilli, and almonds, coconut, raisins, cardamom added on the top! Sheer khurma is a bit more time consuming with dried dates and more milk, less vermicilli and of course including that garnishing material! At least, this is what I have seen in my house!
I am going to make sheer khurma this eid for the first time, lets see how it turns out!
I made sheer khurma last yr but i have no clue what the recipe is, i just followed step by step instructions given by my mum while she was busy finishing up last minute touchups for Eid clothes :D
