Even in your definition, no where does it say that one needs to give up his own culture to assimilate into a new one.
That’s a personal decision, not a fact.

I almost feel sorry for you, the fact that this is your view on assimilation and multiculturalism. One needs to be rid of his own ways to adapt new ones and not be able to carry the old ones parallel. By that philosophy, new responsibilities mean you give up old ones. So stupid.
