Re: Haleem Receipe

Similar to Jalpari's recipe.

2 lbs of beef - use one packet of shaan korma masala and make the korma out of the meat.

Overnight soak - 3/4 cup wheat germ, 3/4 cup barley, 3/4 cup chana daal and 1/2 cup of yellow(moong), pink(masoor), white(urud), and that other big yellow daal. Sorry I'm bad with all the daal names lol

cook barley and wheat germ in a separate pot till the barley is tender. Add a tsp of salt while this mixture cooks. Wheat germ cooks very quickly so you don't have to wait for hours for this mixture to cook. Stir it occasionally otherwise it will lump up pretty quickly on you.
In a separate big pot, cook the daals. Add salt, red pepper, and haldi to this according to taste. I usually add 2 tsp of salt, and one tsp of red pepper and 1/2 a tsp of haldi and then taste test it when I have mixed the wheat/barley to this after it is done cooking.

Once the daal is cooked, add the wheat mixture. Mix it and then add the Beef Korma to this. You will have to ghotify this some with strong hands ;-)
Taste test it and adjust salt accordingly.

Serve with all the stuff desi people love - fried onions, cilantro, ginger etc.
I eat mine w/ chaat masala and lemon juice only.

If you need to make more Haleem for a large crowd then keep the 2 lb meat to 3/4 cup chana daal ratio in mind. It works well.

Re: Haleem Receipe

I know this might be cheating but buy the shan masala and use the recipe on the back. I had that over the weekend and turned out pretty good

Re: Haleem Receipe
