Haleem & Hareesa

What is the difference between the two?

Also, does anybody have a really simple recipe, that does however taste really pakistani in style?

Thank you

Re: Haleem & Hareesa

Awwy, I am sorry! Thank you anyway x x x

Re: Haleem & Hareesa

and there is another form called Dalchaa. Dalacha I think is very crude form of haleem.

Re: Haleem & Hareesa

which recipe do u want, Hareesa or Haleem?

i can give u haleem one if you want.

Re: Haleem & Hareesa

That would be great sheal

Re: Haleem & Hareesa

Haleem is yummy, made of meat and lentils, lots of spices cooked very slowly, Hareesa is more or less the same but a bit tasteless, its meat cooked with oats (i think) and no spices, I personally like it, but hubby bieng a typical punjabi adds tarka and heaven knows what in order to make it tasty for him.

Re: Haleem & Hareesa

Is it Pakistani name or indian? im hearing it for the first time..

Re: Haleem & Hareesa

It might be Indian origin but pretty known dish, at least in Karachi

Thats what i thought too!

It is i guess there is Hareesa in pakistani cooking too!

Re: Haleem & Hareesa

Dalcha is actually just daal gosht.. not blended.. Just regular daal gosht. Its a popular Hyderabadi dish. You can also put louki or kaddu in it instead of gosht.

Re: Haleem & Hareesa

but it does not have just one daal in it but a mix of many types, right?

Re: Haleem & Hareesa

no it does have one daal (channa daal)
