halal work wear

Hello/ASAK ladies of gupshup! I wanted to ask advice of you women who live in the west, like America or UK about business wear in the office. As a Muslim, I am not comfortable nor do I want to show my legs, ever. I recently got a new job at an office where I see women wear business suits and some cute ankle length dressy dresses. I don’t mind wearing women’s style suits but once in a while if the weather is warmer, I want to wear dresses. I don’t wear hijab but that doesn’t mean I am not conservative. I have not started the job yet and start in a weeks time so I cannot ask anyone nor do I want to. I mainly don’t want to ask so I don’t have to bring up reasons I want to wear leggings or make religion an issue. It seems the environment is best suited for a bit more dressy outfits in a business manner. I have a few cute dresses that are either knee length or a bit shorter which I have worn in the past with leggings. I don’t want to stand out in leggings or look weird so any ideas/suggestions would help. Thanks ladies!

What about tights? Leggings are abit dress down. I wear dresses with tights and skirts with tights and blouses, you can still look classy and not wear revealing clothes or look informal. Some places frown upon leggings usually if jts a dress down day i wear them,

My skirts are never short i wear knee or mid calf length ones and dark tights, and dresses are so versatile you can wear them how you like dress it ip with a smart blazer or more casual with a cardi

Re: halal work wear

Thanks for your help ladies. I own two tights and have worn them under dresses before. I don’t know WHY I didn’t think of that earlier. :smack: I agree that tights look classier and dressier under dresses rather than leggings. I really didn’t want to wear leggings.

Re: halal work wear

I think leggings with dresses look too casual. Tights are fine, although dark tights in the summer might look a bit odd. Have you thought about maxi skirts with blouses as well? I don’t know about American office attire but in the UK it would be acceptable and considered smart enough… just the colour scheme would be dependent on how formal the environment is.

These Styles are great! Even in winter! Love it
