This is an Interesting scenario. Lets look at it from the other perspective.

What if a non-muslim opens a butcher shop, and dont want to hire muslims because his non-muslim customers (who happen to comprise the majority of his customers) don’t want their meat to be prepared by muslims, for whatever reason.

Do we view it as discrimination? What if its not a butcher shop but a corporation, hospital, clothes shop or whatever, whos customers/patients view muslims as unclean?

I didn’t anywhere suggest that the practice of not hiring either group in order to placate the clientele is morally or ethically correct. I merely was explaining how it is irrelevant WHO is providing the service as long as the meat is prepared in the prescribed fashion.

And I totally agree that constraints are self-imposed on our own minds…it is not Islam that is exclusionary.

Sorry, my intention was not to imply that you made such an argument. I was just making a point based on a similar scenario to yours. The questions were posed on a general basis, and not to you specifically.
