Does Houston have any good halal hakka-chinese/indo-chinese restaurants? I’m going to be visiting and haven’t had good hakka-chinese since I left Toronto years ago where there were so many awesome options.
Re: Halal Hakka/Indo-Chinese food in Houston
I have been there. Pretty good food:
Today we went to Halal Wok on Hillcroft , family and I were very disappointed.
Re: Halal Hakka/Indo-Chinese food in Houston
Halal Wok is not really a family restaurant. It is next to a strip club ![]()
Their food is very low quality, although their lunch is good enough for the $5.99 or so they charge.
Re: Halal Hakka/Indo-Chinese food in Houston
I did not notice any strip club. In that shopping plaza I have been seeing all desi businesses and lunch was not 5.99 . Is your information current? Anyway we will not revisit it ever again.
Mirch Bhai there is a strip club in that same mall but it has a very discreet entrance. All of the other stores are South Asian & Middle Eastern stores.
Halal Wok is no doubt a disappointment.
Your best bet for Indo Chinese food is Alings in Sugarland. We are not too fond of their soups but there entrees are no doubt really good.
Tempura in Sugarland has limited Chinese items on their menu but its also worth a try.
Re: Halal Hakka/Indo-Chinese food in Houston
is Aling halal? It doesn’t say on the website.
It is. We verbally confirmed with the staff on our first visit.
Re: Halal Hakka/Indo-Chinese food in Houston
thanks guys I’ll check it out when I go but looks like Toronto is still the place for great Hakka chinese food. What about papdi chaat? I’ve found Bombay sweets on Hillcroft to be pretty good but was wondering if there were any better options out there?
Re: Halal Hakka/Indo-Chinese food in Houston

Re: Halal Hakka/Indo-Chinese food in Houston
Is it zabiha halal?
Re: Halal Hakka/Indo-Chinese food in Houston
No doubt.
I do not follow zabiha school of thought. I do follow halal school of thought.
