Gimme your best restaurants. Preferably not too pricey if it goes over 8pounds per head I start weeping.
The only really good halal restaurant I’ve found so far in London is Mea Mea an egyptian bakery on edgware road. Other than that Halal places here have been really really below par.
Los Angeles had much better and more varied halal fare.
Pir Sahab, rest assured that on Friday I’m going back to my old university for jummah as part of my 3 day UK stopover. Whilst I am there, I am going to hunt down ravage and tear him a new one for this mortal affront to the UK halal scene.
Maddy’s Tips for UK quality halal food
Avoid Khan’s of Bayswater like the plague; but travel further down the road for a halal Nandos.
Go to the East End. Find the smallest dirtiest pakistani restaurant you can find and enjoy. There’s a lovely little joint on Commercial Street called Lahore Kebab House, I believe.
Plenty of Halal places in London. On Edgeware Road there is only one Pakistani eating place and that isn't that good. Other restuarants on this road are either Iranian or Arab and they seem to be expensive.
Go to East London and try places on Green Street. The underground station is Upton Park on the District Line.
You can buy a whole tandhoori chicken for 3.5 pounds! Try streatham in london, Alhamdulilah there are many halal shops around but i am more familiar with streatham/norbury (in particular tandoor and laziz situated on london road)...

Hey shazniz - ping pong is a hangout of mine! Was there every weekend at one point - I love Dim-Sum! Have been to Blue Elephant in Fulham a few times now and although the ambience is fabulous, I’m not overly impressed with the food…
If you like Dim - Sum try Yauatcha in Soho - really lovely and Michelin star awarded
Hey ainoo thanks for the suggestions, was in Ilford this weekend and went to a Lebanese place called Tamkar or something (sorry can’t remember the name!) it was close to the station. Their mocktails were great and so were the desserts. The mains weren’t fab though…my friend and sis simply couldn’t finish their food…
But I will definitely try out some of the ones you’ve mentioned if I’m ever in the area again
