halal chicken- BJ? New York?
That's the best question to ask. What their source is. Call Bjs in New York and ask. Unfortunately alot ppl sell meat for a premium under the pretense of halal. I wouldn't jump the gun and accuse anybody but most ppl are caught off guard by this question and tell the truth.
Re: halal chicken- BJ? New York?
^oh they do a lot of gol motol when you ask them as a customer.. they gave me the right answer because I license them and I need sources plus invoices for everything that is on their menu. I may call BJ in NY and check but I was wondering if people had heard about that here on GS!
halal chicken- BJ? New York?
I have been to a number of restaurants and they look you in the face and tell you it's halal. I ask several employees and one is bound to tell you the truth that it is not. Been to a few restaurants where they tell you that they stock halal meat and will use it if you ask for it. Non Zabiha is cheap. Some resort to this disgusting measure. Asking for the source can get you the truth.

I agree. Some restaurants will say it's halal but it isn't. Non halal meat is cheaper but then I think one should not cheat their customers.
It's always better to ask receipt of from where they get their meat . If they refuse, then you know what's the matter

Well said. Hubby and I disagree I. This. He says once they say it is halal it is the restaurant or vendors responsibility . But I think it is also the patrons responsibility to verify especially when in doubt.
Re: halal chicken- BJ? New York?
Agree!!! and so delighted to find that so many are halal conscious. People do say that our responsibility is to ask as if they lie its the liability of the seller, true but eating haram makes our 40 days prayers invalid. There is one incident from history that in ancient times there were pious scholars who were so pious that Allah used to listen to their duas and bad duas, when hujjaj became the ruler he invited that group on a meal and they all ate. When they departed he said that I have been saved from their curse or baddua as I have made them eat haram. Astaghfirullah!!! Its very delicate matter but many people nowadays dont pay much heed to this.
Even there is so much controversy over machine slaughtered chicken which by majority ulema is not recommended. Hand slaughtered is the best one and me and hubby only go for hand slaughtered so from restaurants even we have to ask the source of halal chicken. And one thing amazes me, some restaurants are even given halal certificate when they also stock wine etc.![]()

Re: halal chicken- BJ? New York?
i think Islam discourages 'justuju' unnecessarily. if a Muslim says it's 'Halaal' then it is 'Halaal' for you even if it isn't. the gunaah will be on his head and you will NOT be held accountable in the sight of Allah. Allah does NOT wish undue hardship on humans.
I don't know about bj's but I know restaurant depot has halal meat in ny/nj area n even in Texas

And this attitude of Muslims have enabled others to conveniently folly them by lying. In this age of corruption and evil prevalence such context must not be observed rather cautious approach is must needed. Ulema are best people to guide in this regard specially. Why we tell our youngers not to lie although sinful will be them and not us, but thats what we are supposed to do. Our duty does not end by believing whoever is proclaiming it halal rather to seek guidance of ulema or/and research.

Well said. The problem extends further when the restaurants are owned by non Muslims. They will look you in the face and say that goat is halal but not the chicken. Best thing is to do research and clear doubt . Some vendors prey on your need for halal and then use non Zabiha meat. There have been many instances hen customers have spotted invoices or trucks from non Zabiha sources al halal meat stores. These are Pakistani, bangali, Indian people operating stores like this. Non Zabiha meat is so cheap in the grocery store .....so why take advantage of somebody wanting to follow the sunnah.....
