After the Holy Prophet :saw: came to the world with the message of Islam there were many things that were banned…Alcohol, promiscuity, killing in the name of feuds, women exposing themselves, intergender gatherings and so on…
However as time progressed we have seen many of the things in Muslim households become obsolete or fading away…Gatherings, Muslim women chilling out with the men in the same room gossipping e.t.c. have become normal and many things that were to be followed were thrown out the window…Today it is okay for a Muslim woman to go about the streets dupattaless tomorrow we’ll be seeing them in a bikini and we won’t even care…Slowly the faith is giving way to fitnah, and yet we fail to recognize it…
The word ‘faith’ is a very powerful word. It is said with poetic convictions that faith has the power to move mountains. But what kind of faith is that when you let go of your belief? Your faith tells you to do something and you don’t do it, is that faith? Or is faith something that you pick and choose? Or maybe it is something that you modify so that it makes your life a little more easier to swallow? If it’s solid, it’s faith, if it’s shaky, what is it?
Halloween was not one of the things prescribed by the Holy Prophet :saw: and neither is it part of our faith. He :saw: did say that ‘whoever imitates a nation is one of them’ (Abu Dawood).
The Prophet Muhammad :saws: also said: The Final Hour will not come until my followers copy the deeds of the previous nations and follow them very closely, span by span, and cubit by cubit (inch by inch). (Bukhari).
The Muslims are willing to celebrate Diwali, Christmas, Halloween, Easter, Basant and a thousand other celebrations that anyone practices, yet are willing to diss their own faith by saying, ‘Islam makes everything so harsh’. Problem is, Islam does not make anything harsh, it is the follower lacking the fortitude, courage and convictions to stick to its teachings…I include myself in that…
Muslims are soft-hearted people because their faith tells them to be so. A Muslim thinks, ‘Oh, if I don;t share the non-believer’s faith and celebrate it with him, he will consider Muslims and Islam arrogant and develop a dislike for them’. We however fail to realize, that by following the way of the non-believers and in an effort in trying to please them (Even as a form of Da’awah) we displease Allah :swt:…That is a definite nono…
Only Muslim can wish a Muslim Eid the way it is supposed to be wished, but a Muslim is one willing to celebrate a non-Muslim celebration to the point where it becomes difficult to distinguish a Muslim from a non-believer…It is as if the celbration was a Muslim celebration…And that too in the month of Ramadan…Inalillahe-e-Wainna-Ilaihi-Rajioon…
Today if I stop someone from celebrating a ritual that is far from Islam and even forbidden from celebrating, I would be considered a spoilsport mullah…Tomorrow maybe if I stop a man and a woman from having sex in the streets I would be considered a ‘fundo’…But then again, these are signs of the last day, may Allah :swt: guide us and protect us from His anger which is a terrible thing…
