I am bringing Northern Ireland because that is exactly what Imran brings as an example of what should be done like political talks. He never goes beyond that because he knows that people can poke holes into it.
It is not that far off since Ireland and people as far as America (irish descent in boston, for example) were financially funding the IRA. Taliban can either tax people or do extortions (people have posted threads of that) in Karachi / Islamabad etc or they would need some outside funding be it direct like Afghanistan or indirect through opium, kidnapping etc. The main gist of the matter is that the british people and the establishment there took charge of the situation while Pakistanis and their politicians / army are doing cuckoo cuckoo like an ostrich and assuming that bs’ing would make the problem disappear.
What Imran Khan says is irrelevant. I didn’t bring him up. I didn’t say anything with regard to what he said. I was very specific in my comments. They were with reference to the delusions that posters here have and the inability to understand the basic principles of COIN.
