Hmmm, has it to do something with Pasha’s recent visit to Qatar? I think we should wait for some official confirmation from TTP, as so many claim/counter claims have been made a number of times before.
Hakimullah Mehsud reported killed
Last Updated On **15 January,2012
******Taliban commander Hakimullah Mehsud has reportedly been killed, said a foreign news agency. **
Intercepted militant radio communications indicate leader of Pakistani Taliban may have been killed in a recent US drone strike, AP quoted Pakistani intelligence officials as saying on Sunday.
A Taliban official denied that.
The claim that the Pakistani Taliban chief was killed came from officials who said they intercepted a number of Taliban radio conversations. In about a half a dozen intercepts, the militants discussed whether their chief, Hakimullah Mehsud, was killed on Jan 12 in the North Waziristan tribal area. Some militants confirmed Mehsud was dead, and one criticized others for talking about the issue over the radio.
**The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to talk to reporters.
**
Pakistani Taliban spokesman Asimullah Mehsud denied the group s leader was killed and said he was not in the area where the drone strike occurred.
In early 2010, both Pakistani and American officials said they believed a missile strike had killed Hakimullah Mehsud along the border of North and South Waziristan. They were proved wrong when videos appeared showing him still alive.
**The Taliban are linked to attacks against U.S. targets. They trained the Pakistani-American who tried to detonate a car bomb in New York City s Times Square in 2010 and is tied to a suicide bombing that killed seven CIA agents at an Afghan base in 2009.
Reports of Mehsud’s death comes at a time when ‘secret talks’ between Pakistan’s security agencies and the local Taliban – who have reportedly splintered down into many different groups – had entered a decisive phase.
**Publicly, the military denies having any talks with the militants.
**
Senior TTP leaders had also confirmed that these covert talks with the military establishment were reaching a climax and said there were several indications of things moving ahead.
In an earlier report in The Express Tribune, a young militant commander Raqeebullah Mehsud had said that Hakimullah was not aware of these talks and he, along with a core group following his hard-line positions on talks with the government, was aware of these negotiations.
**A security official had also confirmed that the military was now rigorously chasing Hakimullah and his small group, into the Shawal Valley on the border between South and North Waziristan.**
**true, but the jihaad will be waged in every neighbourhood then…poor humans may get caught in the cross-fire why can’t he be sent to the White House so he may carry out his ‘jihaad’ there? **
Dont you find it wierd, Pasha visited Qatar and then we had these two drone attacks, which could have caused his death (if true). These taleban fellas have proven to be like chameleons you cant be really sure till the end.
His Qatar trip was probably to facilitate setup of official presence of Afghan Taliban in Qatar. I don't think it had anything to do with local talibans.
^ even of he IS dead due to drones does not justify the use of drones, as it kills many innocents as well, plus it causes feelings of helplessness and hatred in the mind of general public towards America and even Pakistani army.

When Interior Minister Rehman Malik advised the US to hold off “alleged Predator attacks until after the Bajaur operation”, Gilani brushed off the remarks saying:
“I don’t care if they do it as long as they get the right people. We’ll protest in the National Assembly and then ignore it.”
The statements were reportedly made during meetings with unnamed US officials in August 2008. The cables also show bureaucrats supporting drones viewing them as a viable solution to loosening Taliban’s grip over the Tribal belt.
