is there any thing in particular (farz/sunnah) one needs to learn before going for a hajj?? do i need to perform umra before hajj?

Many thanks for the info, One thing i got from this site is: not to read just any site or link/article etc. ask, discuss and confirm by some one with knowledge. I am sure most of basic computer users know about google.
Inshallah this coming hajj; to my understanding its in december I wanted to know if there is some thing to learn so that I can start learning it now as I am a VERY slow learner.

u do not need to do umra before hajj....
but if u r going for hajj, to hajj-e-tamatu' which is doing an umrah before hajj, because u cant travel to makkah often so better make best use of the visit....
hajj is fardh, umrah is not....

One more question. I heard inside makka (old) one can volunteer to do some small job and that way they can stay there for as long as they want, is it true??

^ illegally maybe, i dont think there is any such legal thing....
