Re: Hairy Men

No sir. It’s 40 days. This is not a religious thread so you can search for the reference yourself. And no I am not married and I honstly do not think that has anything to do with my reply or my knowledge.

Re: Hairy Men

Re: Hairy Men

ur right  it applies to both men and women. true about the nails too.

Mr Boombastic…ur wrong..shikra is right -it goes with the days (40 days is maximum).

u want proof?

hadith of Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), who said, “He set us a time limit of no more than forty days for trimming the mustache, clipping the nails, plucking the armpit hairs, and shaving the pubic hair” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim).

Re: Hairy Men

Ok, probably going to say something very unpopular here, but it seems as though there is a rule for everything in your religion. I just cannot believe there was one for shaving the hair on your body. This is such a personal issue and yet, there's a rule.

This is a real question...... is everything so micro-managed in Islam?

BTW, my husband mentioned this once and I truly thought he was kidding until I saw this.

Re: Hairy Men

Islam is a way of life so yeah there are guidelines for everything. The ruling is not arbitrary though, it's for cleanliness.

Re: Hairy Men

Cleanliness is very important in Islam. It’s why we go through a whole ritual of cleansing ourselves (wudu) before we pray. Our nails shouldn’t grow too long because there is an easier chance of dirt getting trapped under there. We use a lota after we use the bathroom because just running a toilet paper through there isn’t the cleanest thing. There’s a reason for everythign in Islam. It’s all about common sense and logic really ya kno

Re: Hairy Men

I personally like it that way, the ruling for everything I mean. Atleast that way people don’t have jungle grown down there and need no lawn mowers to shave pubic hair. And also, no crabs. :k: Back in old days ofcourse people couldn’t prove all this scientifically, but now science proves that the way those people lived or now should be living is much better than keeping oneself dirty. Take the example of circumcision: Muslims are supposed to cut the foreskin of penis off. Now back in those days people didn’t know that all kinds of bacteria can grow there and cause serious problems but science now proves it right. So they knew and have been avoiding problems that are caused because of uncircumcised penis.

Re: Hairy Men

ISLAM IS A PROPER AND COMPLETE CODE OF LIFE and as far as cleanliness is concerned … the level of cleanliness is raised to 50% in ISLAM . in other words … if one keep himself clean n tidy as mentioned in islam he is following half of it already !

Re: Hairy Men

TOTALY AGREE !! n besides all those points are scientificaly proven !

Re: Hairy Men

yeh thats what i thought :konfused:

as a muslim you’re supposed to remove the underarm hair, its disliked to leav it long…

Re: Hairy Men

I thought desi girls with hairy bellies was bad, but desi girls with hairy backs…now thats scary

Re: Hairy Men

Ok - sorry, here is what I meant. I know about cleanliness, but as a personal choice. It just is not the same in my religion. I think all these things are common sense, I am just surprised that they are also things expected, that's all.

Thank you all.

Re: Hairy Men

minah pa, its just a matter of cleanliness - its a really really big concept in Islam, although I wish people practiced it more than lecturing about how the West is bringing muslims down :disgust:

I personally agree with it, and its one of those little things that makes me appreciate Islam…yeah there are certain rules that might seem like micromanagement, but I dont see this as being “micromanagement”…we’re talking about cleanliness of an entire population…which basically translates into ancient form of medicine (I know this is seems stretching it a bit)…but back then, medical science was not developed the way it is now - they didn’t even know what a germ was … so introducing the concept of cleanliness was kinda like a little miracle - introducing what medicine would become centuries later…

Cleanliness seems like a small personal matter…but if everyone was unclean and cleanliness was not managed, you’d have a society with far more outbreaks and health problems.

Even the US government has cleanliness programs - even lecturing small children in school on how to clean their hands frequently to limit germ activity and how its good to be showered and clean before coming to school. Would you say the US govt has no right to incorporate these concepts into the school system - and its no arbitrary thing that teachers teach - its literally part of curriculum and educational design in this country.

Back to the topic though - I NEVER thought that most muslim men shave their pits. Hehe! Wait till I tell my family about it. I’m buying my dad an underarm razor for his birthday.
