Hairstyles - Ideas for Updos

Every single time that I’ve had an updo done for a party I’ve been disappointed…I just don’t feel like it does anything to enhance my look. Most times I prefer to simply curl my hair and tease it to give it volume so that the weight of the hair doesn’t pull it all down and give me a flat top.

I’d like to give the updo another chance…I will definitely prefer to have some bangs swept to the side and some locks hanging to frame my face but I’d like a little bit of drama in the back with some height at the crown.

Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated…

Thank you!

fyi…my hair is just below my shoulders in length…cut in layers and high-lighted in a caramel shade.

Re: Hairstyles - Ideas for Updos

I have the same problem so I just don't do updos anymore. I either leave it all down or do half up and half down. I just don't like updos on me... they make me look so old. I just feel my features are way too sharp, not soft, and it makes me look even more harsh.

rimsh......are you in GTA? preferably in Mississauga? experienced?
can you post some of your work?

Re: Hairstyles - Ideas for Updos

My sister and I used to have the problem... until we found this amaaazzzing hairdresser who does the most beautiful updos! He is an older Armenian guy and can copy pretty much any hairdo you show him. In my personal experience, I have noticed that Middle Eastern stylists (especially the men) are the best when it comes to updos.

Re: Hairstyles - Ideas for Updos

I've done a few youtube-assisted updos on myself and they've turned out pretty good. They didn't take too long (about 30 mins for the most intricate), but the finished product looked really good and I saved myself about $60.

Re: Hairstyles - Ideas for Updos

I think biggest issue is the pull back with most people. No one wants to have their hair pulled back away from their tightly.

Lose waves, soft looks and nothing too severe.

Re: Hairstyles - Ideas for Updos

so here’s a few…what do you guys think?

Re: Hairstyles - Ideas for Updos

These three were the most requested looks this summer for weddings and formal events.

First and last are my favorites!

Re: Hairstyles - Ideas for Updos

yeah...I like the first one too......but I want the curls/strands to frame my face......so maybe a combo of 1 and 3?
