Okay since I have my wedding in Inshallah Nov’2011. I thought I’d take advice from all you guppians to chose how to style my hair with a khada dupatta..
For those who dont know what it is.. this is a bridal dress worn in hyd india..
I have a square face and i coz my hairs are very straight i have always let my hair loose.. but i dont think i d be able to do that with all that jewellery and the elaborate dupatta and ghoonghat..
Please suggest me some hairstlyes which you think would look good with my face structure and with a Hydi’ Khada Dupatta ..
anam786aman why don't you try half up half down? Create soft waves throughout the hair, and have the top half in a bun, for added volume and for holding your dupatta and jewellery in place do a coiff or a beehive effect. That way you will still have the softness so your features dont look too strong, but also the structure to hold everything in place.
I like the half up half down idea or you could try a bun that starts at the nape of your neck. I think that would look really nice. I totally feel your pain btw, I have super straight hair and I can't do anything with it!
Hey Anam...i like the idea of the half up and half down hair as well..have u decided what jewellery u are wearing?cuz if its jadavi laccha and karanphool, then u dont want to overshadow that look..i think a french plait will look the best and is also quite common with a khada dupatta..it looks good and doesnt take anything away from the overall look either :))
I think a swept updo looks best when you're wearing a khara dupatta, I'm assuming you'll be wearing traditional jhumka's with 'saharay' and the guluband too?
I wore a khada dupatta for my mehndi and had a long side braid with flowers. But I think youd have to go more formal for the wedding day like an updo. Also make sure you have your hair poofed up to add volume on top. Ive seen many brides in this outfit with hair looking flat and the ghoongats just laying on their heads.

yes amazingaquarian I ll be wearing the jadavi lacha and karan phool.. I like the idea of half up half down but I think I ll leave that for the reception where there will be less jewellery.. so it can look balanced.
and about the french plait, i have straight hair and have never plaited them before so it might look very thin.. :(
A voluminous bee-hive Updo’s the best choice with khada dupata with all those accesories-karanphool n shaharay plus the heavy ghoongat with latakniya aaand the dupatta of course :l
second choice being a pouf with a plait, u can ‘show’ the plait on the shoulder which is dupatta less, something like this.
BTW mubarak on your marriage n sorry my post comes so…late. Mubarak onces again, May Allah bless you both health n happiness, Ameen.

^bride has a side pony, u can plait those hair or take them in a bun like the bride below.
^above bride’s ghoongat has an even moti lace, i prefer that to latakniya..
a pouf is the way to go, it takes over the weight of the ghoongat and spreads it evenly around your face
